So the seller tells you how much (s)he wants to have in pocket, that means the net price, after everything is said and done. This leaves you with the challenge of calculating the gross price on a sale.

If you’ve got a licensed BREA agent then the list price will be the gross price. All real estate listings must be marketed with the gross price.

If you, the buyer, decide to go it alone and you’re in a FSBO (For Sale by Owner) situation you will need to be clear on the following.

Calculating Gross Price from the Net Price:

On a net price of $275,000 on a home the gross price will be $318,000.

Essentially you need to add the vendor costs to the net price so that when the Vendor ‘pays’ them they net $275,000 in their pocket.
